Luxury sports car brand Porsche is becoming well-known for its other products as well. In the past five years, and beginning with the Porsche Panamera sedan, Porsche has been diversifying its model lineup to appeal to a more extended set of buyers. Now, the brand is taking its latest crossover addition, the 2012 Porsche Cayenne, and shrinking it to meet the needs of a younger set of buyers. This new baby crossover has been uncovered and recently was spotted cruising the highways of Europe, specifically near the brand's headquarters in Stuggart, Germany.

 

The new, small Porsche crossover is expected to go on sale in 2013 as a 2014 model, and, as stated, it's expected to draw young, urban dwellers to the luxury brand. The crossover has been dubbed the Porsche Macan, though it was earlier codenamed "Cajun," and it will share the same platform with the Audi A5 and upcoming Audi Q6 crossovers. As for power, it will feature the first four-cylinder engine in a Porsche since the 988 was killed off in 1005. The Macan will compete with such models as the BMW X3, the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class, and the Range Rover Evoque. It is one of several new Porsche models set to hit production lines over the next few years.
